Chaperones Should Be Adults

Everyone has his or her pet peeves, and one of my many personal peeves is when adults don't act like adults when they're in charge of youth.

I don't mind some childish behavior--eating junk food, whining, demanding a fair share of the strawberries--nor do I despise child-like behavior--playing tag, hooting like a howler monkey, doing the Hokey Pokey--but I do strongly dislike adults setting a bad example when they could be teaching by example, or simply following rules.

Yes, I'll finally get to the point. Two days ago I decided that the brilliant sunny day was a perfect one for a trip to the zoo with our youngest. He needs outings and exercise, and lord knows I need both as well.
