A Happy Writer Moment

Last night, amid a tumultuous evening of work stress discussion and the tail end of a family plague, I mentioned that I'd won a literary award for my book. Odd how insignificent it can seem surrounded by LIFE, but it is still worth mentioning.

This year, The Brides of March won an Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards in the Life Stories category, an Honorable Mention in the Reader View's Awards in memoir, a Bronze medal in the IPPY's (Independent Publisher Book Awards) in gay & lesbian, a Winner in the National Indie Excellence Awards in Current Events Political/Social, and now a Gold Medal in the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Awards in gay/lesbian non-fiction.

Pretty good for a first book.
